Getting the pension valuation and the division mechanism right is often the largest financial decision in the file.
• Spousal support after a long marriage. Where one spouse spent decades out of the workforce or earning less, support is frequently indefinite rather than time-limited, and the amount interacts with pension income and retirement timing on both sides.

Is there a family court in White Rock?

No, White Rock has no courthouse. Family court matters for White Rock residents are heard in the same two places as for the rest of the Peninsula:

• Surrey Provincial Court (14340 57 Avenue, about 20 minutes up King George Boulevard) for parenting orders, child and spousal support, and family protection orders. Surrey is an Early Resolution Registry, so unless your matter is urgent you file a Notice to Resolve, complete a needs assessment at the Surrey Justice Access Centre, which serves White Rock, and attend a consensual dispute resolution session before a judge will hear an application.
• The BC Supreme Court in New Westminster for divorce and the division of family property and debt. An uncontested divorce is usually completed on paper without anyone attending.
